Schedule:
-
Ages 6-11: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
These students will perform in a production of Seussical Kids. They will learn and rehearse the songs and choreography while also learning basic theatre terminology and acting skills. -
Ages 12-18: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
These students will devise a short theatre piece based on the works of Dr. Seuss (and other writers) for a showcase. Devising work means that students will collaborate to create a story that they perform together. This work engages the skills of the actor, the writer and the designer.
OPTIONAL: 9am-12pm - Students in this group who wish to build their leadership skills and learn technical theatre skills may serve as mentors, technicians, and designers for the Ages 6-11 production of Seussical KIDS. Lunch will be provided for students who opt into this programming.
Teaching Artists: Virginia Jimenez and Laura Crummer
Objectives of Theatre Education Camps:
-
Develop core theatre skills in youth.
-
Provide a creative outlet that enhances self-expression and confidence.
-
Foster teamwork and communication through collaborative exercises.
-
Introduce theatre terms and stage direction fundamentals.

Skill-Sharing Sessions/ Performances: Some camps will conclude with an informal skill-sharing session, allowing participants to demonstrate their learning progress to friends and family. This approach encourages a supportive atmosphere where campers can take pride in their development without the pressures of a traditional performance. Performances also celebrate students' progress, but in a formal and polished way.

Scholarships are available!
MSL's camps provide a creative, educational, and confidence-building experience for children and teens through the performing arts. However, we recognize that for many families in our community, the cost of summer camp can be a barrier. That’s why we offer a number of scholarships that will ensure no child is turned away due to financial hardship.
Our scholarships are awarded based on financial need, interest in the arts, and a commitment to participating fully in the camp experience.
When requesting a scholarship to attend a summer camp hosted or supported by Main Street Live, applicants should:
-
Write a short letter or email to us requesting the scholarship.
-
In the letter, demonstrate genuine interest in theatre or the performing arts.
-
Explain why they want to attend the camp and what they hope to learn or contribute.
-
Indicate financial need through a short explanation from a parent/guardian that camp fees present a challenge.
Commit to attending the full duration of the camp if awarded a scholarship.
