SCRT Updates! (August 2020)
SCRT Updates! To Our Community Friends and Neighbors: Hello!
Since you have not heard from us for quite a while, we thought it was time to give you an update. Shortly after we suspended our performances in March, the SCRT Board of Directors formed a special committee to address operational concerns until we can restart our season. Though we are without an executive director for the time being, we are moving forward with plans for the Fall and beyond.
The Committee is working diligently and meets on a weekly basis to keep SCRT alive and to prepare for reopening our doors. Some of the significant activities have been and continue to be:
* Reduction of expenses
* Operational improvements
* COVID grant/loan applications (three have been awarded!)
* Creating a new Business Plan
* Developing practices and protocols for a healthy, safe theater environment
SCRT had high hopes for bringing two or three plays to the stage beginning in September. However, COVID-19 concerns have taken a toll on our ability to do so. At this time we are planning a very special Christmas production and will release further details as soon as they become finalized.
As we look ahead to rebuilding “your” community theatre, we are looking for energetic, enthusiastic people to join our production staff of actors, directors, light & sound techs, and other positions. Call us if you would like to contribute to the arts scene in Trinidad!
We thank you for your continued support as we move forward during these uncertain times. We have missed sharing the laughter and excitement of live theatre with you and we look forward to the day we can safely gather again.
Stay healthy and be well!
The SCRT Board of Directors
